Summary
Under the Oak Tree is a Korean romantasy manhwa adapted from the web novel by Suji Kim, illustrated by P and scripted by Namu. It’s a slow-burn love story wrapped in medieval fantasy, emotional healing, and personal growth.
Lady Maximilian Calypse (Maxi), a timid noblewoman with a stutter and deep emotional scars from her abusive father, is forced into a political marriage with Riftan Calypse, a lowborn knight. The morning after their wedding, Riftan leaves for war without a word, and Maxi is left alone, confused and fearful.
Three years later, Riftan returns as a celebrated war hero and takes Maxi to his estate in Anatol. Their relationship is strained—marked by miscommunication, trauma, and emotional distance—but slowly begins to evolve. Maxi, once passive and insecure, starts to reclaim her voice and agency. She studies magic, takes on responsibilities as lady of the castle, and begins to heal emotionally.
Their romance is intense and layered, with Riftan’s fierce protectiveness clashing with Maxi’s fear of abandonment. As they face external threats and internal demons, their bond deepens, transforming from a fragile arrangement into a partnership built on trust and love
